Joint Ground Robotics Consortium

The objectives of the Joint Ground Robotics Enterprise (JGRE) are:

The Office of the Secretary of Defense's (OSD) JGRE objectives are to support robotic technologies to close warfighter requirement to capability gap; to ensure coordination between the Services; and to emphasize interoperability and commonality among unmanned systems.

To engage industry, the OSD has suggested that a Joint Ground Robotics Consortium (JGRC) be established and that the OSD intends to contract with the JGRC to meet its objectives if it is established. On January 17th, 2008, over 100 representatives of the EOC from the Robotics industry/academia met to discuss issues related to forming a consortium.  The meeting was hosted by the NDIA.  During the meeting a Steering Committee was formed, and subsequently charged, with leading the development of the JGRC.
