A study of strong crystal field gain materials discovers unique lasing properties beneficial to military applications.

EOC researchers explore novel aspects of laser physics to engineer practical solutions to the challenging problem of output variation over temperature.

The EOC laser division personnel have over 18 years of experience in the design and development of solid state lasers for custom military, scientific, and industrial applications. Our areas of expertise include the following:
  • Laser Development
  • Rapid Design Prototyping
  • Laser Material Studies
  • Packaging and Ruggedization
  • Environmental Testing
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Beam Delivery / Pump Design
  • Basic & Applied Research

System prototypes have been successfully deployed for man-portable missions as well as ground and air platforms. Devices targeted for space applications have also been studied and developed.

We focus on keeping the laser development process simple for the end user. Whether your need is research into next-generation devices, proof-of-concept demonstrations and feasibility studies, or the design and packaging of a delivered prototype, the Penn State EOC custom laser team can provide a cost-effective solution for you.
